The dragon is a sacred being rooted in myth, perceived differently across cultures.  
In the East, it has long been revered as a spiritual presence — a guardian of nature and the unseen.

 

​​In Japan, dragons are said to dwell in mountains, seas, and lakes, and have inspired masters such as Hokusai, Kaihō Yūshō, and Kanō Hōgai.

To paint a dragon requires the unity of mind, body, and technique.  
Before painting, I enter a state of purification — abstaining from meat and alcohol, and refining both body and spirit.

 

While my foundation is oil painting, I incorporate traditional Japanese materials such as gold leaf, earth, and water — gathered directly from nature.

Each scale is painted with care, layer upon layer.  

Through this process, the dragon begins to emerge — gaining a quiet presence, as if it exists beyond the canvas.

 

Through years of practice and the discipline of Zen, I have prepared myself to depict these sacred beings — continuing a lineage that has captivated artists for generations.
